Please Be Patient

I remember, from my days as an active Christian, a little statue I had. It was more of a figurine, really. It had a head and arm coming out of a boulder and the caption on the base read, "Please be patient, God is not finished with me yet." And that I ask here, please be patient, I am not finished with this blog yet. I don't know where it is going, or even how often I will be posting.

I considered a few titles for it, but many were already taken; I thought of "Ramblings, Rants and Raves of a former Mormon, ex-Baptist, Currently gay teacher" but I thought it was too long, and the "Currently gay" part implied being gay was a choice. Which I don't believe it is, but I do believe a choice is involved, and the choice is to open the closet door or not. (I opened a big closet door this year, but that is another whole story for another post.) Plus, with the 'former' and 'ex-' in there it appeared I was very fickle about things that I would be moving on to something else later. Or at least I was on some sort of journey of self-discovery, which of course we all are, anyway. (I guess the 'rambling' part is true.)

I thought of using my favorite colors, purple and black, in the title, but couldn't come up with a combination I liked; I don't have any books coming out soon, so some type of "Book News" was not appropriate; I am not current on pop culture trends (I thought the Scissor Sisters were the younger siblings of Twisted Sister) and my jury is still out on Adam Lambert, though I will admit he has beautiful blue eyes (with or without all the liner), and a nice smile.

In the end, for now, I have decided just to use my name. It's simple, and direct. Unlike me.

  1. Lets try this again -- I got lost in cyber space.

Welcome to the blogging world. It can be a nice venue to post stuff that is dear and near to you. I started mine the fall of 2008 when I drove with my daughter back to wisconsin for her first year of college. I now post pictures, art, recipes, etc. Sometimes just general rants about life. It is a wonderful tool if you don't let it consume you. I have a friend who has an anxiety attack if they don't post daily. I am hit or miss, right now more miss. Have fun on your blogging journey.

  2. I had actually blogged a little on myspace, but facebook doesn't really have a blog space, that I have found. So, I came here.

Time can be tricky while working. Plus with the lesson planning, and paper grading...it seems time gets away from me. And with trying to write....oh, well. Winter Break is approaching, so maybe I can get more organized.
